Carnet de voyage - Gênes (Italie)

L'appart merveilleusement décoré que nous avons loué à Gênes (Italie). J'avoue que j'ai un peu forcé le trait concernant la végétation, il ne ressemblait pas autant à une jungle en réalité. A gauche, une caravelle, clin d'oeil à Christophe Colomb, omniprésent aujourd'hui encore dans sa ville natale.

The wonderfully decorated apartment we rented in Genoa (Italy). I admit that I pushed the line a bit regarding the vegetation, it didn't look as much like a jungle in reality. On the left, visible through the window, a caravel, a nod to Christopher Columbus, still omnipresent today in his hometown.

J'ai commencé le dessin en représentant basiquement la ruelle en pente où je buvais un verre, sur un terrasse. Ensuite j'ai ajouté au décor que j'observais différents éléments aperçus à d'autres endroits de la ville : un poisson du marché oriental, une gargouille ornant un château sur les hauteurs de la cité, des statues du gigantesque cimetière Staglieno, des plantes, cactus et coquillages au bord de mer, la croix d'une église, des plantes de chinotto (je buvais à ce moment une boisson régionale à base de cette agrume),...

I started the drawing by basically representing the sloping alley where I was having a drink, on a terrace. Then I added to the decor that I observed different elements seen in other places in the city: a fish from the oriental market, a gargoyle adorning a castle on the heights of the city, statues from the gigantic Staglieno cemetery, plants , cacti and shells by the sea, the cross of a church, chinotto plants (at that time I was drinking a regional drink made from this citrus fruit),...
